VAGABONDING

I’ve been travelling a lot since I was a little kid. My parents were both working for airlines, so we got cheap tickets and spent almost every holiday abroad. So far I’ve to about 73 different countries.

After moving to Finland in 1997, which is kind of trip itself, I went for my first long voyage in 2003-04. Project “Learn to speak Spanish” brought me to Central America (mainly Costa Rica, but also through Cuba, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras), South America (Peru, Bolivia and Chile) and North America (USA South-North and East-West and Canada, of course).

Four years later (2007-08) “Asian Adventures” took me and my girlfriend (now my wife) Nora to Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Macao, Hong Kong and mainland China.

In 2009 we went for a five-week trip to South Africa and Namibia, which was quite an adventure. And in December 2011 we visited Ecuador for another five-week stretch. Que chévere!!

Our last big adventure was a trip around the world!! In September 2012 we left for Singapore and Borneo, Australia and New Zealand, the Cook Islands and French Polynesia, before spending the last four+ months in South America. 285 nights on the road all together!

Since then we have spent our holidays on some minor excursions to countries like Mexico, Iceland, Albania, Taiwan and Panama. We also got married on Hawaii and cruised through the western USA for a few weeks.

I’ve got lots of links, which were (and still are) useful to me while vagabonding. Check them out by clicking the appropriate entry on the navigation bar above.
